About
About Marie
For over 30 years, I’ve taught art and environmental awareness in schools and the community. Managing the children’s component of major WA festivals, teaching visual arts, and developing nature discovery programs for CALM (now the WA Department of Parks and Wildlife) has all led me ‘down the winding garden path’ to my true calling – providing art and nature therapy for children.
Throughout my life and work, I’ve been drawn to children who struggle with confidence, or those who are autistic. I’ve found that like me, they find joy and a sense of self when they express their inner world. They’ve taught me that nature and art can heal, inspire, and contribute to happy, confident children.
Creating art is my joy! The countless hours I spend creating and experimenting are punctuated by exhibiting my works in galleries, selling my artwork, holding workshops, and working on specific projects (I am currently illustrating and writing a children’s book about a robin, a nest, and a peg basket!). I am a qualified a teacher and have a post graduate diploma of Expressive Art Therapy from Murdoch University, as well as additional studies in art and autism, and clay therapy.

Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Art Therapy

The Studio
InspireArt Garden Studio draws together the threads of my experience, passion and learning to celebrate nature and art and to help children become confident and creative. Located in a beautiful garden right near the Lesmurdie Falls National Park, the studio is a unique place to explore nature, creativity and emotion in a safe and fun way. A small brook runs through the garden, and there are many nooks and crannies to explore!
A session or workshop at InspireArt can take a variety of forms for groups or individuals. There are one-on-one sessions tailored to the needs of the individual or family, after-school sessions for children, development programs for children applying for art scholarships, or group workshops for adults. To book a session or enquire, you can contact me via email.
The studio is equipped to hold individual and group sessions. It is located on a secure and quiet road, so parking is available on the road verge for group sessions, or down the driveway for individuals. The studio is wheelchair accessible — you can discuss any of your accessibility needs with me before coming along to a session.
